Does "On Fairy Stories" work along with (or instead of?) Tolkien's foreword? (There are times I think "Tree and Leaf" ("On Fairy Stories" plus "Leaf by Niggle") is the best thing Tolkien ever wrote.)

Hello. I am not sure if I am subscribed or just able to view posts right now. Can you advise. Thank you

Hi, sorry I missed this comment! Yes, in order to register for the book club you have to not only subscribe, but also make a $5 monthly pledge to Love of Literature. To do this (according to instructions I am finding online), go to my page and underneath the "subscribe" button there should be another option to "pledge your support." Click on this and follow the prompts. Just make sure to pledge a *monthly* amount, not annual, since the paid feature will be turned off after the book club and I don't want you to be stuck paying an annual amount.

oh my Lord, that picture. I loved those editions so much that when I read my originals to pieces I had to find those, yes those, the ones with pages printed to close to the spine for easy reading, on line to read again.

Same! They are undoubtedly the best editions. I can’t get rid of them, even though they’re falling apart now.
